The Area H T&CF Committee consists of Lloyd F. (Chairman and Area T&CF Coordinator), Ron Mc. (special interest in Correctional Facilities) and Nathan T. (special interest in Treatment Facilities).
The Committee already has some information about AA service in most of the facilities in our Area, but will be posting the latest information here as soon as possible. This will include all the treatment centres and then men's as well as women's prisons.
At St John of God, North Richmond, there is a three week structured program with a session provided by AA visitors for 90 minutes on the second day of the program. The patients attend local AA meetings, five nights of the week. A new roster has been drawn up for two AA visitors each time.
There are three meetings per week which are held on the hospital grounds, which some patients and occasionally some staff attend. The Saturday 8pm AA meeting has been working closely with the hospital staff, and with AA members previously involved, to strengthen the AA contribution to their treatment program.
At Hadleigh Lodge, Leura, there are two AA speakers for one hour on the second Friday evening of every month. This Salvation Army rehab runs a 10 month in-house 'Bridge' program.
At the Detox Unit, Nepean Hospital, there are two AA speakers on the second and fourth Tuesday evening of every month, who share their experience with the patients, who are only here for five days.
At the Northside West Clinic, Wentworthville, there are two AA speakers every Wednesday evening for one hour who share their experience and then answer questions.
At Corella Lodge, Fairfield, there has been an AA contribution for a long time, but we don't have the details at this stage.
