Doing Service in Women's Prisons

What is required for a new applicant?

Do you have two (2) years sobriety?

Are you willing to have a criminal record check carried out by the Department of Corrective Services?

This is what you do for a new application.

Download and fill in these forms:

  1. 8.7a Criminal Record Inquiry Disclosure Authority 
  2. annexure_15.1 Standard Conduct Agreement
  3. Check List for Application
  4. 15.6 Request for an Authority to Enter Correctional Centres
  5. annexure_15.2 Obligation of the Parties Generally
  6. Criminal Record Inquiry (non-offenders)

You must include two (2) signed and dated passport photos and a photocopy of your current driver's licence.

You MUST get a employee of the Department of Corrective Services (DCS) to witness your signature then deliver or post these completed forms for signing by the Secretary, CSO, 127 Edwin St., (PO Box 56) Croydon, 2132.

After your application is processed, the Department will conduct a telephone interview with you.

At this point please contact the Roster Coordinator with your details so she can add you to the Roster.

Finally

  • This is what you do for your annual renewal.Because this process is so involved you need to make a long-term commitment to this form of service - say 2 to 5 years.
  • Two years of sobriety is considered necessary to ensure we have sufficient emotional stability and clear boundaries for this service.

NO renewals will be done by the Department of Corrective Services in April 2010 so get your forms in early.

Eight (8) weeks before your Authority to Enter a Correctional Centre expires:

  3. Criminal Record Inquiry (non-offenders)

 Every five (5) years you must include two (2) signed and dated photos again.

You MUST get a employee of the Department of Corrective Services (DCS) to witness your signature then deliver or post these completed forms for signing by the Secretary, CSO, 127 Edwin St., (PO Box 56) Croydon, 2132.
